Know that as often as you come to Me, humbling yourself and asking My forgiveness, I pour out a superabundance of graces on your soul, and your imperfection vanishes before My eyes, and I see only your love and your humility. You lose nothing but gain much... WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA (Diary 293 )
“O Jesus, my Love, may my heart be consumed in loving Thee; make me humble and holy; give me childlike simplicity; transform me into thy holy love. O Jesus, life of my life, joy of my soul, God of my heart, accept my heart as an altar, on which I will sacrifice to Thee the gold of ardent charity, the incense of continual, humble and fervent prayer, and the myrrh of constant sacrifices! Amen.” (St. Paul of the Cross)
“2. ...But St. Peter confessed that He was the son of the living God, not revealed by flesh and blood but by the Father. (Mt 16.14f.) 3. From this, you can easily see that there is a difference between the sons of light and the sons of the world. The latter disagree among themselves with various and diverse opinions, while the former, initiated into the mysteries of unity, profess the one faith of all by the mouth of one, through the head of all. Therefore, concentrate all your attention on increasing peace among the faithful. Uproars, contentions, rivalries, animosities, and dissensions should be silenced. (2 Cor 12.20.) In this way those who go by the name of Catholic can all be perfect in the same sense, in the same opinion, (1 Cor 1.10.) saying the same thing together, (2 Cor 13.11.) knowing the same thing and understanding it thoroughly. They should understand that if they want to be members of Christ, they cannot have concord with the head if they want to be in disagreement with the members. Nor can those who have not lived in fraternal love be counted as brothers by the Almighty Father.” Pope Clement XIII, A Quo Die (On Unity Among Christians), September 13, 1758
"In our thought and at confession we must not dwell on sins that have been confessed. Because of our contrition Jesus has forgiven them at the tribunal of penance. There He faced us and our miseries like a creditor in front of a debtor. With a gesture of infinite generosity He tore up and destroyed the bills we signed with our sins, which we could certainly not have paid without the help of his divine clemency. To go back to these sins, to bring them up again just to have them forgiven again, because of doubt that they were really abundantly remitted, would this not be considered a lack of trust in the goodness which He proved by his tearing up every document of debt contracted through sin?...Dwell on them, if it is a source of comfort to your soul. By all means think of the offenses against justice, wisdom and the infinite mercy of God, but only for the purpose of weeping redemptive tears of repentance and love." St. Pio of Pietrelcina

Enrich your soul in the great goodness of God: The Father is your table, the Son is your food, and the Holy Spirit waits on you and then makes His dwelling in you. – Saint Catherine of Siena
“Saint Sixtus was arrested and led to execution. The order was that the bishops should be first executed. Saint Laurence, the principal of the deacons, was not on that day among the number of the victims. He, weeping, followed Sixtus, and exclaimed: ‘My father, whither are you going without your son? You are not accustomed to offer sacrifice without the assistance of a minister. How have I displeased you? Try me, whether I am worthy of the choice that you have made of me for the distribution of the blood of our Lord.’ Sixtus replied: ‘I do not abandon you, my son; but God reserves you for a greater combat. Doubt it not; in three days you will be with me.’ Having uttered those prophetic words, he ascended to heaven, and from the height of the abode of God he could look down upon the triumph of his disciple." Pope St. Sixtus II, to St. Laurence the martyr, as recounted by William Hayes Neligan (Quote by Neligan in his work “The Lives and Times of the Roman Pontiffs: From St. Peter to Pius IX., pub. 1867”)
"A spirit of license makes a man refuse to commit himself to any standards. The right time is the way he sets his watch. The yardstick has the number of inches that he wills it to have. Liberty becomes license, and unbounded license leads to unbounded tyranny. When society reaches this stage, and there is no standard of right and wrong outside of the individual himself, then the individual is defenseless against the onslaught of cruder and more violent men who proclaim their own subjective sense of values. Once my idea of morality is just as good as your idea of morality, then the morality that is going to prevail is the morality that is stronger." Archbishop Fulton Sheen (On Being Human)
“The clients of this most merciful Mother are very fortunate. She helps them both in this life and in the next, consoling them and sponsoring their cause in Purgatory. For the simple reason that the Souls in Purgatory need help so desperately, since they cannot help themselves, our Mother of Mercy does so much more to relieve them. She exercises over these Poor Souls, who are the spouses of Christ, particular dominion, with power to relieve them and even deliver them from their pains. See how important it is then to have devotion to this good Lady, because she never forgets her servants as long as they suffer in these flames. If she helps all the Poor Souls, she is especially indulgent and consoling to her own clients.” - St. Alphonsus Maria de Ligouri

“The purpose of marriage is to help married people sanctify themselves and others. For this reason they receive a special grace in the sacrament which Jesus Christ instituted. Those who are called to the married state will, with the grace of God, find within their state everything they need to be holy, to identify themselves each day more with Jesus Christ, and to lead those with whom they live to God.” (St. JosemarÃa Escrivá, Conversations, 91)
“Since grace enhances our human nature and glory adds a still greater perfection to grace, it is certain that our Lord remains in heaven just as much the Son of Mary as he was on earth. Consequently he has retained the submissiveness and obedience of the most perfect of all children towards the best of all mothers.” (St. Louis Marie de Montfort; True Devotion to Mary, #27)
“One of the greatest deceptions of today is the belief that leisure and money are the two essentials of happiness. The sad fact of life is that there are no more frustrated people on the face of the earth than those who have nothing to do and those who have too much money for their own good. Work never killed anybody, but worry has.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Peace of Soul)
”Not only do they offend thee, O Lady, who outrage thee, but thou art also offended by those who neglect to ask thy favors. He who neglects the service of the Blessed Virgin will die in his sins. He who does not invoke thee, O Lady, will never get to Heaven. Not only will those from whom Mary turns her countenance not be saved, but there will be no hope of their salvation. No one can be saved without the protection of Mary.” - St. Bonaventure
The flames of mercy are burning Me. I desire to pour them out upon human souls. Oh, what pain they cause Me when they do not want to accept them!
My daughter, do whatever is within your power to spread devotion to My mercy. I will make up for what you lack. Tell aching mankind to snuggle close to My merciful Heart, and I will fill it with peace -WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA (Diary, 1074).

"Have courage, then, and move forward. God is with you, and the world, the flesh, and the devil, to their dismay, will one day lay down their weapons and confess once more that they can do nothing against a soul who possesses and is possessed by God.....
There is open warfare against you, my dear, so you need to be vigilant at all times and to put up strong resistance against it, always having the eyes of faith turned to the Lord of Hosts, who fights with you and for you. Have absolute confidence in the goodness of God that victory is assured. Why should you believe otherwise? Isn't our God more interested in our salvation than we are? Who can resit and ever prevail over the monarch of the heavens? What power do the world, the flesh, and the devil have before the Lord? -St. Pio of Pietrelcina

“Indiscreet zeal is not good– people often spoil good works by rushing ahead and by acting according to their own inclinations, which, contrary to common sense, make them think that the good they see to be done is feasible and timely, although this is not so; their error is recognized in the resulting lack of success.” – St. Vincent de Paul
“‘And you have left your first love: remember whence you have fallen.’ (Apoc. 2:4-5) He who falls, falls from a height: therefore He said whence: because, even to the very last, works of love must be practised; and this is the principal commandment. Finally, unless this is done, He threatened to remove their candlestick out of its place, that is, to disperse the congregation.” St. Victorinus, Commentary on the Apocalypse (Translated by Robert Ernest Wallis. From Ante-Nicene Fathers, Vol. 7. Edited by Alexander Roberts, James Donaldson, and A. Cleveland Coxe. (Buffalo, NY: Christian Literature Publishing Co., 1886.))
"The world may disagree with the Church, but the world knows very definitely with what it is disagreeing. In the future as in the past, the Church will be intolerant about the sanctity of marriage, for what God has joined together no man shall put asunder; she will be intolerant about her creed, and be ready to die for it, for she fears not those who kill the body, but rather those who have the power to cast body and soul into hell." Archbishop Fulton Sheen
When you go to confession, to this fountain of My mercy, the Blood and Water which came forth from My Heart always flows down upon your soul and ennobles it. Every time you go to confession, immerse yourself entirely in My mercy, with great trust, so that I may pour the bounty of My grace upon your soul. WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA (Diary 1602)

“Temptations, discouragement and unrest are the wares offered by the enemy. Remember this: if the devil makes noise, it is a sign that he is still outside and not yet within. That which must terrify us is his peace and concord with the human soul. That which comes from Satan begins with calmness and ends in storm, indifference and apathy.” St. Pio of Pietrelcina
“The Church and the world have a great need of eucharistic worship. Jesus waits for us in this sacrament of love. Let us be generous with our time in going to meet Him in adoration and in contemplation that is full of faith and ready to make reparation for the great faults and crimes of the world. May our adoration never cease.” (Pope St. John Paul II, Dominicae Cenae, 1980)
“Never once did Our Lord tell these witnesses of His to write. He Himself only wrote once in His Life, and that was on the sand. But He did tell them to preach in His Name and to be witnesses to Him to the ends of the earth, until the consummation of time. Hence those who take this or that text out of the Bible to prove something are isolating it from the historical atmosphere in which it arose, and from the word of mouth which passed Christ’s truth.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Way to Inner Peace)
"You know the poor creatures who oppose you dearest Mother. Please enlighten them, help them, because we know that you love them too. In this way they will come to know your goodness and your power as we know it and they will come to love you as we do. In fact, they will love you even more than we do and they will make sure that every grace that is bestowed by you, even in the remotest corner of the world, will be universally known, so that in everyone's heart love and trust will flourish." - St. Maximilian Kolbe

“Clothe yourselves with the dispositions which animated your Master. When he approached a sick person, it was always in the name of the Father, and by the virtue of the Holy Spirit: thus, you should always bring with you the goodness and tenderness, the love and mercy of the Father and in your speech and actions remain dependent on the guidance of the Holy Spirit.” – St. Vincent de Paul
“Par. 7 ...However it has never been possible to prove oneself a Catholic by affirming those statements of the faith which one accepts and keeping silence on those doctrines which one decides not to profess. But without exception, all doctrines which the Church proposes must be accepted, as the history of the Church at all times bears witness. 8. ...For any man to be able to prove his Catholic faith and affirm that he is truly a Catholic, he must be able to convince the Apostolic See of this. For this See is predominant and with it the faithful of the whole Church should agree.” -Pope Pius IX, Quartus Supra, January 6, 1873
"What then will a Catholic Christian do, if a small portion of the Church have cut itself off from the communion of the universal faith? What, surely, but prefer the soundness of the whole body to the unsoundness of a pestilent and corrupt member? What, if some novel contagion seek to infect not merely an insignificant portion of the Church, but the whole? Then it will be his care to cleave to antiquity (Tradition), which at this day cannot possibly be seduced by any fraud of novelty". ~ St. Vincent of Lerins

“Victor was truly, as well as in name, a Victor [or conqueror] because he was martyrized for the traditions of the Church.” Pope St. Nicholas I (The Great), Letter 9, in the Collection of the Councils, by Labbe, p. 341., on Pope St. Victor I (Indirect Quote by William Hayes Neligan in “The Lives and Times of the Roman Pontiffs: From St. Peter to Pius IX.” pub. 1867)
“Brother Roger, a Franciscan of singular purity, being once asked why he was so reserved in his intercourse with women, replied, that when men avoid the occasions of sin, God preserves them; but when they expose themselves to danger, they are justly abandoned by the Lord, and easily fall into some grievous transgressions.” - St. Alphonsus Liguori, The True Spouse of Jesus Christ, Mortification of the Eyes, p. 221
"Walk with simplicity in the ways of the Lord and do not torment your spirit. You must hate your faults, but with a quiet hate, not troublesome or restless. We must be patient with them and gain from them through holy humility. Without that patience, instead of diminishing, your imperfections will increase constantly, as there that nourishes our defects like restlessness, and the haste to drive them away." St. Pio of Pietrelcina
And so, I tell thee, if great sins have been forgiven her, She has also greatly loved. He loves little who has little forgiven him. – Luke 7:47 “It would be very wrong to deduce that it would be well to have sinned much, or to have run up a bigger debt in order that the sinner might have more forgiven. Rather the lesson is that flagrant sinners are much more likely to discover that they are sinners than those who think they are good. As in a hospital, a patient who is a mass of sores and bruises solicits more pity than one less injured, so too, admitted guilt is not an obstacle, but an argument in favor of Divine mercy. The love of this woman grew in proportion to her gratitude for pardon. It was not the quantity of sin, but rather the consciousness of it and the mercy extended in its forgiveness, which manifested the great love of this penitent woman. Much was forgiven her; therefore she loved much.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Life of Christ)
When I went for adoration, I heard these words: My beloved daughter, write down these words, that today My Heart has rested in this convent [the Cracow house]. Tell the world about My mercy and My love.
The flames of mercy are burning me. I desire to pour them out upon human souls. Oh, what pain they cause Me when they do not want to accept them!
My daughter, do whatever is within your power to spread devotion to My mercy. I will make up for what you lack. Tell aching mankind to snuggle close to My merciful Heart, and I will fill it -with peace.
Tell [all people], My daughter, that I am Love and Mercy itself. When a soul approaches Me with trust, I fill it with such an abundance of graces that it cannot contain them within itself, but radiates them to other souls. WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA (Diary 1074)

“I indeed am a sinner, yet I have desired to come unto the most Christian emperor, Justinian; now, however, I have found Diocletian; nevertheless, I fear not your threats... Notwithstanding, that you may know you are unworthy of the Christian faith, bid your bishop [Anthemius] confess the two natures in Christ.” Pope St. Agapetus (†536), Speaking to the Emperor Justinian defending his condemnation of the heretical “bishop” Anthemius [This correction led to the Emperor Justinian discovering Anthemius’s heresy and subjecting himself to Pope St. Agapetus’s judgment.] (Cited in the Liber Pontificalis, translated into English by Louise Ropes Loomis, Ph.D.)
“Always be fearful if you do not feel sorry for the faults you commit, for even venial sin ought to fill you with sorrow to the very depths of your soul…. For the love of God, take care not to commit any deliberate venial sin, even the smallest…. And can anything be small if it offends God?” St. Teresa of Avila (Conceptions of the Love of God 2 – Way of Perfection 41).

“[St. George] whose name... [is] justly reverenced among men, ...whose actions are known ... to God.” Pope St. Gelasius I (Chisholm, Hugh, ed. (1911). “George, Saint”. Encyclopædia Britannica11 (11th ed.). Cambridge University Press. p. 737. In the canon of Pope Gelasius (494) George is mentioned in a list of those ‘whose names are justly reverenced among men, but whose acts are known only to God’)
“George, the most Faithful Soldier of Jesus Christ, when as Religion was elsewhere dissembled, adventur’d boldly to confess the Name of God, to whom it pleased the Lord to give so much of Heavenly Grace, that he not only scorn’d the Tyrants, but contemned their Torments,” - St. Ambrose The Feast of St. George “The Dragon Slayer” (Quoted by Thomas Salmon in his work “A New Historical Account of St. George for England, and the Original of the Most Noble Order of the Garter: Illustrated with Cutts”, who himself cites a work “Liber Præfationum”)
"To be a mother is to nourish and protect true humanity and bring it to development." -St. Teresa Benedicta, (Edith Stein) (The Significance of Women’s Intrinsic Value in National Life)
“There are two kinds of souls in the world; those who hide from God and those from whom God hides. But when God hides, He hides in order that he might be sought the more, as if to draw out a deeper love. During the three days when the divine Child was lost, the Blessed Mother became the mother of sinners. The essence of sin is the loss of God, and Mary lost God, not spiritually, but physically. During those three days, she came to know something of the solitariness of the sinner, the loneliness of the guilty, and the aloneness of the frustrated. Her divine Son, 21 years later, would feel it for Himself on the cross, when He would ask why God had abandoned Him. Let no sinner ever despair of Divine mercy, because Mary understands the tortures of the heart, but above all, because she knows where to find Christ. She also knows how to bring the sinner to her Divine Son. As the Madonna of the Empty Arms, she awaits your embrace.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (The Fifteen Mysteries)

“4. ...After he had made of his heart an altar for the Lord, he offered upon it the incense of devout prayers to be taken up to the Lord at the hands of angels whose company he would soon join. 5. But that he might not be the only one to enjoy the blessings of the mountain, clinging exclusively to the embraces of Rachel, as it were to a life of contemplation lovely but sterile, he descended to the forbidden house of Leah to lead into the desert the flock fertile with twins (Cant 4:2) and seeking pastures of life (Gen 29). There, where the manna of heavenly sweetness restores all who have been separated from the noisy world, he would be seated with the princes of his people and crowned with the crown of justice. Sowing his seed in tears, he would come back rejoicing carrying his sheaves to the storehouse of eternity (Ps 125:5-6).” Pope Gregory IX, Mira Circa Nos, July 16, 1228
“Attend therefore to what I say. The marriages of Jacob were types of that which Christ was about to accomplish. For it was not lawful for Jacob to marry two sisters at once. And he serves Laban for [one of] the daughters; and being deceived in [the obtaining of] the younger, he again served seven years. NowLeah is your people and synagogue; but Rachel is our Church. And for these, and for the servants in both, Christ even now serves. For while Noah gave to the two sons the seed of the third as servants, now on the other hand Christ has come to restore both the free sons and the servants among them, conferring the same honour on all of them who keep His commandments; even as the children of the free women and the children of the bond women born to Jacob were all sons, and equal in dignity. And it was foretold what each should be according to rank and according to fore-knowledge. Jacob served Laban for speckled and many-spotted sheep; and Christ served, even to the slavery of the cross, for the various and many-formed races of mankind, acquiring them by the blood and mystery of the cross. Leah was weak-eyed; for the eyes of your souls are excessively weak. Rachel stole the gods of Laban, and has hid them to this day; and we have lost our paternal and material gods. Jacob was hated for all time by his brother; and we now, and our Lord Himself, are hated by you and by all men, though we are brothers by nature. Jacob was called Israel; and Israel has been demonstrated to be the Christ, who is, and is called, Jesus.” St. Justin Martyr, Dialogue with Trypho, Caput 134
At no time in modern history has it been easier to believe in God than now. It used to be that evil was considered a stumbling block to a belief in the Goodness of God, but today men are coming to a belief in the Goodness of God because of evil. Calvary is only a momentary scandal. Goodness in the face of evil, must suffer, for when love meets sin it will be crucified.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Lenten & Easter inspirations)

“My Secretary, write that I am more generous towards sinners than toward the just. It was for their sake that I came down from heaven; it was for their sake that My Blood was spilled. Let them not fear to approach Me; they are most in need of My mercy.” WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA (Saint Faustina's Diary)
“As for your Castors [pagan deities], whose worship you refuse to abandon, why did they not give you tranquil seas so that the ships might reach here with grain in winter and the city suffer less with want?” Pope St. Gelasius (c.494), Tractate in Denunciation of the Lupercalia (Cited in footnote on Gelasius in Liber Pontificalis as translated by Louise Ropes Loomis, Ph.D.)
“To err knowingly is a sin: the ignorant are some times pardoned. You cannot deny that you know the Episcopal chair in the city of Rome was first bestowed on Peter: that Peter, the head of all the Apostles, sat therein; in which one chair unity should be preserved by all—so that now, whoever would place another chair against this one, would be guilty of schism.” St Optatus, of Mela in Africa, addressing the Donatists (S. Optatus Mil. l. ii. n. 2.)
“The world may be in the throes of a new birth, when the Christian message shall pass from the Western to the Eastern world. Within a short time the Mystical Christ, Who has been crucified, will take His bleeding Hands to the Japanese, who will lay their Lotus flower upon them to change the wounds of hate into the scars of love. To the Chinese, He will bring His bruised and torn Body and the lame, and blind, the hungry and the famished will bring their healing hands and cover up from sight those imprints of a night forever past. To the people of India, He will show His open wounded Side, and they who sought their peace in a Nirvana of unconsciousness, will be drowned at last in the Sacred Heart, in a love that is a healing of the soul. Finally, He Who went into darkness through a crown of thorns, will turn to Africa and the people of the midnight Madonnas, and they shall pluck out His thorns, and crown Him with blossoms and with flowers as white as their souls, as perfumed as their faith.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Lenten & Easter Inspirations)
"Mary has the authority over the angels and the blessed in heaven. As a reward for her great humility, God gave her the power and mission of assigning to saints the thrones made vacant by the apostate angels who fell away through pride. Such is the will of the almighty God who exalts the humble, that the powers of heaven, earth and hell, willingly or unwillingly, must obey the commands of the humble Virgin Mary. For God has made her queen of heaven and earth, leader of His armies, keeper of His treasure, dispenser of His graces, mediatrix on behalf of men, destroyer of His enemies, and faithful associate in His great works and triumphs." - St. Louis Marie de Montfort

"Jesus told me that everywhere this holy image (of the Sacred Heart) would be exposed to be honored, He would pour forth His Graces and Blessings. He made me understand that this Devotion is like a last effort of His love, which wants to favor men with this loving redemption in these latter times, to withdraw them from the empire of Satan, which He intends to destroy in order to put us under the sweet freedom of the empire of His love, which He wants to re-establish in the hearts of all those who will be willing to embrace this Devotion." - St. Margaret Mary Alacoque
“When you reflect upon what I tell you in the depths of your heart, you profit more than if you had read many books. Oh, if souls would only want to listen to My voice when I am speaking in the depths of their hearts, they would reach the peak of holiness in a short time" WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA (Diary 584).”
“‘Oh, my children,’ Mary seems to say to us with these words, ‘when the enemy assails you, lift your eyes to me and behold me and take courage; for in me, who defends you, you will behold, at the same time, your victory.’” St. Albert the Great (As quoted by St. Alphonsus in “The Glories of Mary” Section II, “How Powerful is Mary in Protecting Those Who Invoke Her in Temptations of the Devil.”)
“The Lord’s triumph, on the day of the Resurrection, is final. Where are the soldiers the rulers posted there? Where are the seals that were fixed to the stone of the tomb? Where are those who condemned the Master? Where are those who crucified Jesus? He is victorious, and faced with his victory those poor wretches have all taken flight. Be filled with hope: Jesus Christ is always victorious.” (St. JosemarÃa Escrivá, The Forge, 660)
"If there were any other exit from an empty tomb than through the door of the Cross, Our Lord would have passed through it; if there were any other way to have all things added to us than seeking first the Kingdom of God and His Justice, Our Lord would never have commanded it. We are merely scratching the surface of the world's ills, covering the world's prejudice with face powder, soothing national concerns with alcohol rubs, changing our title of property without uprooting selfishness. Very simply, unless man is reformed, the world will never be remade for there is no escaping the Easter lesson: Reform man and you re-make the world!" Archbishop Fulton Sheen
"I desire trust from My creatures. Encourage souls to place great trust in My fathomless mercy. Let the weak, sinful soul have no fear to approach Me, for even if it had more sins than there are grains of sand in the world, all would be drowned in the unmeasurable depths of My mercy " WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA (Diary, 1059).

In peace, Sweet Jesus, I want to wait for your return, Without ever ceasing My canticles of love. No, nothing worries me. Nothing can trouble me. My soul knows how to fly Higher than the lark. Above the clouds The sky is always blue. One touches the shores Where God reigns. I await on peace the glory Of that Heavenly abode, For I find in the Ciborium The sweet Fruit of Love! St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, Virgin and Doctor of the Church (from Abandonment is the Sweet Fruit of Love, 1897..)
"I understand that temptations seem to stain rather than purify the soul, but this is not really the case. Let us see what the saints have to say about it. For you it suffices to know what the great Saint Francis de Sales says, namely that temptations are like the soap, which when spread on the laundry seems to soil, but in reality cleanses it." St. Pio of Pietrelcina
"Easter is not automatic. Not in vain is its symbol--the egg. The hard shell of egotism, avarice and immorality has to be broken, before the inner life begins to appear. America on the cross-roads of civilization is having forced on it the burdens of the world. Its day of resurrection will be when it sees that, not like Atlas is it bearing the world, but like the Savior, it is walking on it and carrying His Cross." Archbishop Fulton Sheen

"And of what should we be afraid? Our captain on this battlefield is Christ Jesus. We have discovered what we have to do. Christ has bound our enemies for us and weakened them that they cannot overcome us unless we so choose to let them. So we must fight courageously and mark ourselves with the sign of the most Holy Cross." – St. Catherine of Sienna
“Jesus Christ meets the man of every age, including our own, with the same words: ‘You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.’ These words contain both a fundamental requirement and a warning: the requirement of an honest relationship with regard to truth as a condition for authentic freedom, and the warning to avoid every kind of illusory freedom, every superficial unilateral freedom, every freedom that fails to enter into the whole truth about man and the world.” (Pope St. John Paul II, Encyclical Redemptor Hominis, 1979)
"If a man is ever to enjoy communion with Christ, so as to have the blood of God running in his veins and the spirit of God throbbing in his soul, he must die to the lower life of the flesh. He must be born again. And hence the law of Calvary is the law of every Christian: unless there is a Cross there will never be the resurrection, unless there is the defeat of Calvary there will never be the victory of Easter, unless there are the nails there will never be the glorious wounds, unless there is the garment of scorn, there will never be the robes blazing like the sun, unless there is the crown of thorns there will never be the halo of light for the law laid down at the beginning of time which shall be effective until time shall be no more, is that no one shall be crowned unless he has struggled and overcome.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (The Moral Universe)
"Today I am sending you with My mercy to the people of the whole world. I do not want to punish aching mankind but to heal it, pressing it to My Merciful Heart. I use punishment when they themselves force me to do so; My hand is reluctant to take hold of the sword of justice. Before the Day of Justice, I am sending the Day of Mercy" WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA (Diary, 1588).
"You need to keep yourself far away from three things. First, keep yourself from ever quarreling or being in strife with anybody. If you conduct yourself otherwise, you can say farewell to peace and charity....
Second, keep yourself from vainglory, or self-conceit, which is the vice that attacks devout people the most. Without our noticing it, this vice nudges us to want to stand out more than others and to want others to admire us. Even St. Paul warns his beloved Philippians about this 'Do nothing from selfishness or conceit' [Phlippians 2:3].... Self-abnegation that considers others better than yourself is the only remedy for this vice.
You need to guard against a third thing that is no less dangerous than self-conceit because it contains the hellish seed of division: Never put your welfare ahead of that of others, because it always and necessarily tends to break the beautiful bond of love, the bond that should always unite Christians. In St. Paul's words, love 'binds everything together in perfect harmony' [Colossians 3:14]. -St. Pio of Pietrelcina

“For her part, Mary did not fail to live up to her station as the Mother of Christ. When the apostles fled, she stood before the Cross and gazed tenderly on the wounds of her Son, because she was waiting, not for her Son’s death, but for the salvation of the world.” (St. Ambrose of Milan, Bishop and Doctor of the Church)
"Let your whole life be spent in self-surrender, in prayer, in work, in humility, in giving thanks to our good God. If you ever feel impatience rising up again, go to prayer immediately. Remember, we are always in God's presence, and he is the one to whom we must render an account for all our actions, good or bad. Above all, meditate on the abasement that the Son of God suffered out of love for us. I would like Jesus' sufferings and humiliations to be the daily theme for your meditations. If you do that, as I am sure you will, you will experience good fruit in a very short time. That sort of meditation will be a shield with which to defend yourself from impatience whenever our sweetest Jesus sends you difficulties or causes you to experience desolation." -St. Pio of Pietrelcina
“O Death, where is your sting? O Hell, where is your victory? Christ is risen, and you are overthrown. Christ is risen, and the demons are fallen. Christ is risen, and the angels rejoice. Christ is risen, and life reigns. Christ is risen, and not one dead remains in the grave. For Christ, being risen from the dead, is become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. To Him be glory and dominion unto ages of ages. Amen.” (St. John Chrysostom, Bishop and Doctor of the Church, The Paschal Sermon)
"Take heart and don’t fear the gloomy wrath of Lucifer. Always remember this, that it is a good sign when the enemy makes an uproar and roars around your will, as this shows he is not within you. Courage, my most beloved daughter, I offer you these words with great feeling and in Jesus; courage I say! There is no need to fear when we can say with determination, even if without feeling: “Long live Jesus!” " St. Pio of Pietrelcina (Letters III, p. 414).
“If the basis of Christianity were anything else than a God Who came from a tomb, then we would be without hope. If He were a worldly success, then we would have to imitate Him in worldliness. If He were a failure, and never rose from defeat, then we would be vindictive, and hate who symbolized the world that crucified Him. If He were only a man, He would be forgotten as all men are. If He wrote a book, we would all have to be professors, but since he came into this world to bring victory out of defeat, then the more hopeless the situation, the more certainly does the Divine Power operate. How long this conflict between good and evil will last we do not know.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Lenten & Easter Inspirations)

"You are restless to be free of the enemies that surround you because those apostles of Satan are all intent on making you transgress. As for the grief you still feel about being surrounded by opportunities to offend God, I tell you those occasions are the result of divine graces that the very good Lord has abundantly sown in your heart.
This is all a very certain sign that the love the Holy Spirit has poured into your soul is not lifeless but very alert. Your longings, in the content of a humility that comes from a modest opinion of yourself, cannot in any way come from demonic deception. Your desire to be free of enemies who want you to transgress and often God and your desire to avoid the occasions that test your faithfulness absolutely rule out that this is a strategy of the enemy. He does not have and, therefore, cannot engender such sentiments."
-St. Pio of Pietrelcina
"I want you to become like a knight experienced in battle, who can give orders to others amid the exploding shells. In the same way, My child, you should know how to master yourself amid the greatest difficulties, and let nothing drive you away from Me, not even your falls." WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA (Diary 1823)
“I recommend to thee, my Brother, patience in all thy works, so that no matter what impediments thou meetest with either from the brethren or from others, even if they were to strike thee, thou shouldst receive it as a favour, and desire that and nothing else. And thou shouldst love those who act thus towards thee, and not wish them to be different until the Lord grants it for thy consolation—But thou must love them by desiring that they become better Christians.”—St. Francis of Assisi
