“As a priest, one fills himself up with holiness; as a victim, one empties himself to service to mankind and the world.  The increase of Christ in the soul of a priest is in direct relation to the decrease of self-will.  The more I am occupied with Christ, the less I shall be occupied with myself.  Humility is not directly cultivated.  He who starts out resolved to be humble soon becomes proud that he is humble.  Humility is a byproduct of the love of Christ.  Emptiness as regards the self, is balanced by compassion for others.  The less stress on the ego, the more care there is for neighbor.”  Archbishop Fulton sheen (Those Mysterious Priests)
