Humility does not disturb or disquiet however great it may be; it comes with peace, dilight and calm.   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila    The Way of Perfection - chapter 39: 2
“Obedience will enable you to advance untiringly, and to gain more readily the road to Heaven; inasmuch as you will be journeying, in a manner, under the guidance of another, and not by your own will and judgment.”    St. Ignatius of Loyola (1491.-1556.)

“The Most Holy Virgin in these last times in which we live has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary to such an extent that there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, whether temporal or above all spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families…that cannot be solved by the Rosary. There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary.”   - Sister Lucia dos Santos, Fatima seer

"My daughter, know that My Heart is mercy itself. From this sea of mercy, graces flow out upon the whole world. No soul that has approached Me has ever gone away unconsoled. All misery gets buried in the depths of My mercy, and every saving and sanctifying grace flows from this fountain. My daughter, I desire that your heart be an abiding place of My mercy. I desire that this mercy flow out upon the whole world through your heart. Let no one who approaches you go away without that trust in My mercy which I so ardently desire for souls.
Pray as much as you can for the dying. By your entreaties, obtain for them trust in My mercy, because they have most need of trust, and have it the least. Be assured that the grace of eternal salvation for certain souls in their final moment depends on your prayer. You know the whole abyss of My mercy, so draw upon it for yourself and especially for poor sinners. Sooner would heaven and earth turn into nothingness than would My mercy not embrace a trusting soul."
(Saint Faustina's Diary 1777)
“I have no desire except to die or to love God; either death or love, since life without this love is worse than death and for me it would be more unbearable than it is at present.”  St Pio of Pietrecina.  (Letters I, p. 937).

“No soul ever fell away from God without giving up prayer.  Prayer is that which establishes contact with Divine Power and opens the invisible resources of heaven.  However dark the way, when we pray, temptation can never master us.  The first step downward in the average soul is the giving up of the practice of prayer, the breaking of the circuit with divinity, and the proclamation of one’s owns self sufficiency.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Characters of the Passion)
It is not enough that you love the young, they must know they are loved.    - St. John Bosco

"The Rosary is my favorite prayer."    - Pope St. John Paul II
“Humility is the mother of all virtues; purity, charity and obedience. It is in being humble that our love becomes real, devoted and ardent. If you are humble nothing will touch you, neither praise nor disgrace, because you know what you are. If you are blamed you will not be discouraged. If they call you a saint you will not put yourself on a pedestal.” (Saint Teresa of Calcutta)
“Why should we pray? Well, why breathe? We have to take in fresh air and get rid of bad air; we have to take in new power and get rid of our old weaknesses. Just as a battery sometimes runs down and needs to be charged, so we have to be renewed in spiritual vigor. Our Blessed Lord said: “Without me you can do nothing.” O yes, we can eat and drink, and we can sin but we cannot do anything toward our supernatural merit and heaven without Him.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen

The closer one comes to God the more progress there must be in the virtue of humility.   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila    The Book of Her Life - chapter 12:4

“Now I shall show them, that as the mother-of-pearl fish lives in the sea without taking in a drop of salt-water, and as there are near the Chelidonian islands springs of fresh water in the midst of the sea, and as the fire-flies fly in the flames without singeing their wings, so a strong and steadfast soul can live in the world without imbibing any worldly humour — can find springs of sweet piety in the middle of the salt-waters of the age— and fly amidst the flames of earthly lusts without burning the wings of the holy desires of the devout life.”—St. Francis de Sales (Quoted in his work Introduction to the Devout Life)

the fruit of service is peace.
- St Teresa of Calcutta
"Yes, without doubt, my brethren, we have never really understood what a precious gift the word of God is.  Ah, my brethren, if we rightly understood it, with what reverence and love should we not listen to it!  Let us not deceive ourselves.  The word of God must of necessity bear within us either good or bad fruit."  -St. John Vianney

With her for guide, you shall never go astray; while invoking her, you shall never lose heart; so long as she is in your mind, you are safe from deception; while she holds your hand, you cannot fall; under her protection you have nothing to fear; if she walks before you, you shall not grow weary; if she shows you favor, you shall reach the goal."--St. Bernard of Clairvaux, Father and Doctor of the Church

Tell souls not to place within their own hearts obstacles to My mercy, which so greatly wants to act within them. My mercy works in all those hearts which open their doors to it. Both the sinner and the righteous person have need of My mercy. Conversion, as well as perseverance, is a grace of My mercy    WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA   (Diary, 1577).

“Gentleness causes us to master our passions.”   – St. Vincent de Paul
“Love is the most necessary of all virtues. Love in the person who preaches the word of God is like fire in a musket. If a person were to throw a bullet with his hands, he would hardly make a dent in anything; but if the person takes the same bullet and ignites some gunpowder behind it, it can kill. It is much the same with the word of God. If it is spoken by someone who is filled with the fire of charity- the fire of love of God and neighbor- it will work wonders.” -St. Anthony Mary Claret
"The Sacraments which Our Lord instituted would not have saved us without the Holy Spirit. Even the death of Our Lord would have been useless to us without Him. Therefore Our Lord said to His Apostles, “It is good for you that I should go away; for if I did not go, the Consoler would not come.” The descent of the Holy Spirit was required, to render fruitful that harvest of graces. It is like a grain of wheat – you cast it into the ground; yes, but it must have sun and rain to make it grow and come into ear. We should say every morning, “O God, send me Your Spirit to teach me what I am and what You are.” - St John Vianney.

“This does not mean that politics and religion move on identical planes any more than the body and the soul have the same function.  Politics exist to lead free men to a prosperous and virtuous common life on this earth; religion exists to save men’s souls.  But from both of them are born the two greatest loyalties known to man: the cross and the flag.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen

“Among the great billows of the sea of life, here and there whipped up by wild winds... one thing alone is dear to me, my only treasure, comfort and oblivion in my struggle, the light of the Blessed Trinity.” — St. Gregory of Nazianzus
Whether, therefore, we receive what we ask for, or do not receive it, let us still continue steadfast in prayer. For to fail in obtaining the desires of our heart, when God so wills it, is not worse than to receive it; for we know not as He does, what is profitable to us.   - St. John Chrysostom

Say unceasingly the chaplet that I have taught you. Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death. Priests will recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation. Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if her were to recite this chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite mercy. I desire that the whole world know My infinite mercy. I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My mercy.    WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA   ((Diary, 687)
“It is not a loss of patience if one asks Jesus to take away pain, when this becomes insupportable to us and beyond our strength, nor does one lose the merit of the suffering which is offered, by asking this of God.”   St. Pio of Pietrelcina

“We must act, we must enter into all the fields of social, familiar and political action. And to work, because all the dark and threatening forces of evil are united. It is necessary that the forces of good be all united and form a kind of dam, a barrier as if to say: ‘There is no passing over here.’ ”   —St. Gianna Molla

“Some change their philosophy of life with every book they read, one book sells them on Freud, the next on Marx; materialists on year, idealists the next; cynics for another period, and liberals for still another.  They have their quivers full of arrows, but no fixed target.”  Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Life is Worth Living)
“O Jesus, my Love, may my heart be consumed in loving Thee; make me humble and holy; give me childlike simplicity; transform me into thy holy love. O Jesus, life of my life, joy of my soul, God of my heart, accept my heart as an altar, on which I will sacrifice to Thee the gold of ardent charity, the incense of continual, humble and fervent prayer, and the myrrh of constant sacrifices! Amen.” (St. Paul of the Cross)

Still, He knows what He is about.”   --Blessed John Henry Newman~
"To love Jesus and make him loved, how sublime that is."   -St. Therese of  Lisieux
“Through Mary’s yes, through her consent to be the Mother of God, the Son of God was made flesh in her most pure and virginal womb by work of the Holy Spirit; and the One who before was only God, then became True God and True Man, and Mary, without losing her virginity, was elevated to the almost infinite dignity of true Mother of God... Oh Most Blessed Virgin! How grateful we must be for your obedience to the orders of the Most High! Because of that obedience, you are Mother of God, and God is our brother, and you also are our Mother and Advocate because, although you were just our sister through the condition Adam’s nature, from this moment you are Mother of all of God’s sons and brothers of Jesus Christ.”   -St.  Henry De Osso

“The Apostles were as yet a kind of organization; but they were to become an organism under the influence of the Spirit of Christ that would come on Pentecost.  Ten days after the Ascension of our Blessed Lord into Heaven, the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles gathered in the upper room of Jerusalem, baptizing them with fire, made them one, signed them with a sign and sealed them with a seal – and at that precise moment the new body of Christ was born.  The body of Christ is His Church.” Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen

I am Thrice Holy, and I detest the smallest sin. I cannot love a soul which is stained with sin; but when it repents, there is no limit to My generosity toward it. My mercy embraces and justifies it. With My mercy, I pursue sinners along all their path, and My Heart rejoices when they return to Me. I forget the bitterness with which they fed My heart and rejoice at their return.
Tell sinners that no one shall escape My Hand; if they run away from My Merciful Heart, they will fall into My Just Hands. Tell sinners that I am always waiting for them, that I listen intently to the beating of their heart... when will it beat for Me? Write, that I am speaking to them through their remorse of conscience, through their failures and sufferings, through thunderstorms, through the voice of the Church. “Another escape hatch for unadmitted guilt is cynicism.  The difference between the pessimist and the cynic is that the pessimist carries on the losing battle against life in his own soul, while the cynic tries to wage the battle in someone else’s soul.  His own inner defeat, the cynic projects onto others; because he is unhappy, he tries to make them unhappy by ridiculing the basis of their inner peace.  Such a person tries to free himself from guilt by projecting it onto his neighbor.”  Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Lift Up Your Heart)

It observes that its lifetime is passing in pleasure and that nothing other than You can give it pleasure any longer; for since it desires to live no longer in itself but in You.   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila   The Book of Her Life - chapter 16:4
Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier     -St. Teresa of Calcutta
“In the social sphere, the Church has always wished to assume a double function: first to enlighten minds in order to assist them to discover the truth and to find the right path to follow amid the different teachings that call for their attention; and secondly to take part in action and to spread, with a real care for service and effectiveness, the energies of the Gospel.” (Blessed Paul VI)

Mary's faith was frequently tested during the public life of Jesus, especially when she witnessed the rejection of her son. His sacrifice would bring salvation to humanity.”    - Saint John Paul II

Once, as I was going down the hall to the kitchen, I heard these words in my soul: Say unceasingly the Chaplet that I have taught you. Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death. Priest will recommend it to sinners as their last hope if salvation. Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite the Chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My Infinite Mercy. I desire that the whole world know My Infinite Mercy. I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who TRUST in My Mercy .   WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA.    (Diary, 687)

-St. Pio of Pietrelcina
“All ships are exposed to storms but are not thereby doomed to perish. May Our Lord be your Strength, your Protector, your Sanctifier.”   – St. Vincent de Paul
The Western post-Christian civilization has picked up the Christ without His Cross. But a Christ without a sacrifice that reconciles the world to God is a cheap, colorless, itinerant preacher who deserves to be popular for His great Sermon on the Mount, but also merits unpopularity for what He said about His Divinity on the one hand, and divorce, judgment, and hell on the other. This sentimental Christ is patched together with a thousand commonplaces, sustained sometimes by academic etymologists who cannot see the Word for the letters, or distorted beyond personal recognition by a dogmatic principle that anything which is Divine must necessarily be a myth. Without His Cross, He becomes nothing more than a sultry precursor of democracy or a humanitarian who taught brotherhood without tears.”  Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Life of Christ)

I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child, a direct killing of the innocent child, murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts… Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. This is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion. St. Teresa of Calcutta
The consolation, the sweetness, and the delight are incomarably greater than that experienced in the previous prayer.   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila    The Book of Her Life - chapter 16:1

From Mary we learn to trust even when all hope seems gone.    Pope St. John Paul II
"When the clock struck twelve, my soul immersed itself more deeply in recollection, and I heard a voice in my soul, "Do not fear, My little child, you are not alone. Fight bravely, because My arm is supporting you; fight for the salvation of souls, exhorting them to trust in My mercy, as that is your task in this life and in the life to come". After these words, I received a deeper understanding of divine mercy. Only that soul who wants it will be damned, for God condemns no one."  WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA   (Diary 1452)
“Detach yourself from the world. Listen to me. One person drowns on the high seas, another chokes on a glass of water. What difference is there between these two: are they not both dead?”   St. Pio of Pietrelcina
“Every human person—no matter how vulnerable or helpless, no matter how young or how old, no matter how healthy, handicapped or sick, no matter how useful or productive for society—is a being of inestimable worth created in the image and likeness of God. This is the dignity of America, the reason she exists, the condition for her survival—yes, the ultimate test of her greatness: to respect every human person, especially the weakest and most defenceless ones, those as yet unborn.” (Pope Saint John Paul II, September 19, 1987)
“[H]ow can my tears and my sorrows suffice for the sins for which my Jesus was afflicted all His life long!”   —St. Margaret de Cortona,

"If I can succeed in saving only a single soul I can be sure that my own will be saved."  - St. Dominic Savio
“May we see things as they are, as works of God, which God has entrusted to us.”– St. Vincent de Paul
“Critics are often men who have failed.  There are no monuments in the world built for critics.  There is not a critical person in the world who is not in need of criticism.”  Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Thoughts for Daily Living)

The intellect's work here is very slow-paced, and it obtains a lot more water than it pulled out of the well.   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila.  The Book of Her Life - chapter 12:4
“Only after the Last Judgment will Mary get any rest; from now until then, she is much too busy with her children.”     -St. John Vianney
Believe me, there is no more powerful means to obtain God’s grace than to employ the intercessions of the Holy Virgin.    -Saint Philip Neri
At three o’clock, implore My mercy, especially for sinners; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great mercy... In this hour I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion.   WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA (Diary, 1320)
Devotion is a certain act of the will by which man gives himself promptly to divine service. –St. Thomas Aquinas
"This earth is a bridge to cross the water; it serves only to support our steps. . . . We are in this world, but we are not of this world, since we say every day, 'Our Father, Who art in Heaven. ' We must wait, then, for our reward till we are at home, in our Father's house. This is the reason why good Christians suffer crosses, contradictions, adversities, contempt, calumnies - so much the better! . . . But people are astonished at this. They seem to think that because we love the good God a little, we ought to have nothing to contradict us, nothing to make us suffer. . . . We say, 'There is a person who is not good, and yet everything goes well with him; but with me, it is of no use doing my best; everything goes wrong. It is because we do not understand the value and the happiness of crosses. We say sometimes that God chastises those whom He loves. That is not true. Trials are not chastisements; they are graces to those whom God loves. . . . We must not consider the labor, but the recompense. A merchant does not consider the trouble he undergoes in his commerce, but the profit he gains by it. . . . What are twenty years, thirty years, compared to eternity? What, then, have we to suffer? A few humiliations, a few annoyances, a few sharp words; that will not kill us." - St John Vianney.
The man of impure speech is a person whose lips are but an opening and a supply pipe which hell uses to vomit its impurities upon the earth.   -St. John Vianney
"Those who now desire to question God or receive some vision or revelation are guilty not only of foolish behavior but also of offending him by not fixing their eyes entirely on Christ and by living with the desire for some other novelty. Behold him well!"   -St John of the Cross
“Smile at each other, smile at your wife, smile at your husband, smile at your children, smile at each other -- it doesn't matter who it is -- and that will help you to grow up in greater love for each other.”  St. Teresa of Calcutta
“As a tender plant, though placed in fertile ground, will not grow straight or will otherwise come to grief unless properly cared for, so you, my dear sons, will develop wrongful inclinations unless you yourselves be guided by those who are responsible for you. Your parents and those who take their place are the guides to whom you owe total obedience. The Lord says, ‘Honor thy father and thy mother that you shall be blessed with a long life on earth.’ What does ‘honor’ mean? It means obedience, respect, and cooperation. As to obedience, if you are asked to do something, do it promptly and without hesitation. Do not shrug your shoulders, shake your head, or — much worse — respond with insolence. Those who do that are doing great harm to their parents and to God Himself, Who, through them, commands you to do this or that. To teach us obedience, our Savior, though omnipotent, obeyed the wishes of the Blessed Virgin and Saint Joseph who practiced a humble trade. He died in agony on the cross in obedience to His heavenly Father.”   -St. John Bosco
“Christ does not force our will, He only takes what we give Him. But He does not give Himself entirely until He sees that we yield ourselves entirely to Him.”    - St. Teresa of Avila
In solitude He guides her, He alone, Who also bears in solitude the wound of love.   - St John of the Cross
“Sooner or later, good works speak a far more advantageous language than whatever is done for ostentation and display.”   – St. Vincent de Paul
“The devil strains every nerve to secure the souls which belong to Christ. We should not grudge our toil in wresting them from Satan and giving them back to God.”     - St. Sebastian
“An intelligent use of conceptual images and their corresponding physical objects produces self-restraint, love and spiritual knowledge; an unintelligent use produces licentiousness, hatred and ignorance.”  St. Maximos the Confessor (580. – 662.)
"Let, then, the life of Mary be as it were virginity itself, set forth in a likeness, from which, as from a mirror, the appearance of chastity and the form of virtue is reflected. From this you may take your pattern of life, showing, as an example, the clear rules of virtue: what you have to correct, to effect, and to hold fast. The first thing which kindles ardor in learning is the greatness of the teacher. What is greater than the Mother of God?"   -Saint Ambrose

"It is one of the paradoxes of Christianity that the only things that are really our own when we die is what we gave away in His name. What we leave in our wills is snatched away from us by death; but what we give away is recorded by God to our eternal credit, for only our works follow us.  It is not what is given that profits unto salvation; it is why it is given." Archbishop Fulton Sheen
Here the soul begins to be recollectedand comes upon something supernatural because in no way can it acquire this prayer through any efforts it may make.   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila.  The Book of Her Life - chapter 14:2

"For you, Jesus... if you want it, I want it too!"    -Blessed Chiara Luce Badano

"One cannot desire freedom from the Cross when one is especially chosen for the Cross" ~St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein)
“Give praise to God alone; honor the Creator and not the creature. During your life, learn to endure bitterness, in order to participate in the sufferings of Christ.”  St. Pio of Pietrecina
If you judge people, you have no time to love them.   - St. Teresa of Calcutta
“Let us aspire to take Jesus as a model in the way He acted and what He did.”   – St. Vincent de Paul
“Character building should not be based solely on the eradication of evil, for it should stress even more the cultivation of virtue.  Mere asceticism without love of God is pride; it is possible to concentrate so hard on humiliating ourselves that we become proud of our humility, and to concentrate so intently on eradicating evil as to make our purity nothing but a condemnation of others.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen  (On Being Human)
But I praise You very much, Lord, because You awaken so many to awaken me. Our prayer for those who give us light should be unceasing.   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila    The Book of Her Life - chapter 13:21

“You are the supreme and infinite good, good above all good; good which is joyful, incomprehensible, inestimable; beauty exceeding all other beauty; wisdom surpassing all wisdom, because You are wisdom itself. "Reading the lives of the Saints is a great means to preserve piety." - St. Philip Neri
"America you are beautiful and blessed. The ultimate test of your greatness is the way you treat every human being, but especially the weakest and most defenseless. If you want equal justice for all and true freedom and lasting peace, then America, defend life."--Pope St. John Paul II
"Life is short. If you defer changing your ways until the hour of your death, you are blind, for you do not know either the time or the place where you will die, perhaps without any assistance. Who knows if you will not go this night, covered in your sins, before the tribunal of Jesus Christ? . . . .Yes, my dear brethren, as life is, so is death. Do not hope for a miracle, which God but rarely performs. You are living in sin; very well, you will die in sin . . . .If we desire to die a good death, we must lead a Christian life. And the way for us to prepare for a good death is to model our deaths upon the death of Jesus Christ. Can the life of the good Christian be anything other than that of a man nailed to the Cross with Jesus Christ?" - St John Vianney.
“Let us aspire to take Jesus as a model in the way He acted and what He did.”   – St. Vincent de Paul
“Terrible is the justice of God. But let us not forget also that his mercy is infinite.”  St. Pio of Pietrelcina
“Many people are concerned with children of India, with the children of Africa where quite a few die of hunger, and so on. Many people are also concerned about the violence in this great country of the United States. These concerns are very good. But often these same people are not concerned with the millions being killed by the deliberate decision of their own mothers. And this is the greatest destroyer of peace today—abortion which brings people to such blindness.” (Saint Teresa of Calcutta; National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C, February 5, 1994)
"It is not to remain in the golden ciborium that Jesus comes down from heaven each day, but that he might find another heaven, the heaven of our souls."   -St. Therese of Lisieux

"Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes an appeal to My compassion, but on the contrary, I justify him in My unfathomable and inscrutable mercy".  WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA    (Diary 1146)
"The virtue of obedience makes the will supple… It inspires the courage with which to fulfill the most difficult tasks." - St John Vianney.

“The people who are buried here were once living, as we are. Now they are dead, as we will some day be. Therefore we should love God. And now please say after me: Christ, through Thy bitter death and through Thy dear Mother Mary, deliver the souls from their sufferings in purgatory, and give us who are living Thy grace, that we may attain to the eternal joy of heaven.”    -St. Elizabeth of Hungary
“You are the supreme and infinite good, good above all good; good which is joyful, incomprehensible, inestimable; beauty exceeding all other beauty; wisdom surpassing all wisdom, because You are wisdom itself. Food of angels, giving Yourself with fire of love to men! You are the garment which covers our nakedness; You feed us, hungry as we are, with Your sweetness, because You are all sweetness, with no bitterness.” — St. Catherine of Siena

“Let us keep this lamp always lit in our hearts.”   – St. Vincent de Paul
"Spiritual authority is not a dam to the river of thought, it is merely a levee which prevents thought from becoming riotous and destroying the countryside of sanity." Archbishop Fulton Sheen
“Christians must lean on the Cross of Christ just as travelers lean on a staff when they begin a long journey.”   St. Anthony of Padua, Doctor of the Church

Where, my Lord, did I think I could find a remedy save in You ?   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila.  The Book of Her Life - chapter 19:10

"Revolting books against virtue are termed 'courageous'; those against morality are advertised as 'daring and forward-looking'; and those against God are called 'progressive and epoch-making.' It has always been the characteristic of a generation in decay to paint the gates of hell with the gold of paradise. In a word, much of the so-called wisdom of our day is made up of that which once nailed our Blessed Lord to the cross."   Ven. Abp. Fulton J. Sheen
If anyone does not wish to have Mary Immaculate for his Mother, he will not have Christ for his Brother.    --Saint Maximilian Kolbe
This evening, Jesus said to me, My daughter, do you need anything? I answered, "O my Love, when I have You I have everything." And the Lord answered, If souls would put themselves completely in My care, I myself would undertake the task of sanctifying them, and I would lavish even greater graces on them. There are souls who thwart My efforts, but I have not given up on them; as often as they turn to Me, I hurry to their aid, shielding them with My Mercy, and I give them the first place in My Compassionate Heart."  WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA.   (Diary, 1682)

"Prayer is powerful beyond limits when we turn to the Immaculata who is queen even of God's heart."   --St. Maximilian Kolbe

There is no cross to bear that Christ has not already born for us, and does not now bear with us.   - St. John Paul II

In so far as divine love beautifies our souls. And makes us pleasing to His divine Majesty, it is called grace; in so far as it gives us strength to do good, it is called charity; but when it reaches such a degree of perfection, that it makes us not only do the good, but do so carefully, frequently and readily, then it is called devotion. –St. Francis de Sales
“When you sit down to eat, pray. When you eat bread, do so thanking Him for being so generous to you. If you drink wine, remember Him who has given it to you for your enjoyment and as a relief in illness. When you get dressed, thank Him for His kindness in supplying you with clothing. When you look at the sky and the beauty of the stars, throw yourself at God’s feet and adore Him who in His wisdom has arranged things in this way. In the same way, when the sun goes down and when it rises, when you are asleep or awake, give thanks to God, who created and arranged all things for your benefit, to have you know, love and praise their Creator.” — St. Basil the Great
"Now that the soul is clothed in these other garments of dryness and desolation, and that its former lights have been darkened, it possesses more authentic lights in this most excellent and necessary virtue of self-knowledge."   -St. John of the Cross

“The most powerful weapon to conquer the devil is humility. For, as he does not know at all how to employ it, neither does he know how to defend himself from it.” (St. Vincent de Paul)
"Today the Lord said to me, Daughter, when you go to confession, to this fountain of My mercy, the Blood and Water which came forth from My heart always flows down upon your soul and ennobles it. Every time you go to confession, immerse yourself entirely in My mercy, with great trust, so that I may pour the bounty of My grace upon your soul.
When you approach the confessional, know this, that I Myself am waiting there for you. I am only hidden by the priest, but I myself act in your soul. Here the misery of the soul meets the God of mercy. Tell souls that from this fount of mercy souls draw graces solely with the vessel of trust. If their trust is great, there is no limit to My generosity. The torrents of grace inundate humble souls. The proud remain always in poverty and misery, because My grace turns way from them to humble souls.”   WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA     (Diary,1602)
“A Christianity which keeps a grip on itself, refuses every compromise with the world, takes the commands of God and the Church seriously, preserves its love of God and of men in all its freshness, such a Christianity can be, and will be, a model and a guide to a world which is sick to death and clamors for directions, unless it be condemned to a catastrophe that would baffle the imagination.”   -Pope Pius XI,

Heaven for me is hidden in a little Host Where Jesus, my Spouse, is veiled for love. I go to that Divine Furnace to draw out life, and there my Sweet Saviour listens to me night and day. -St Therese of Lisieux
“Love does not tolerate delay and immediately upon arrival, the Magi did everything within their power to make Him known; He who had conquered their hearts through the influence of grace, wounding them with the kind of charity which must overflow, because it cannot be contained in the small structure of the heart and must therefore be communicated.”   St. Pio of Pietrelcina

A scrap of knowledge about sublime things is worth more than any amount about trivialities. –St. Thomas Aquinas
The nothing that we are, and even less than nothing.   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila   The Book of Her Life - chapter 14:9
“We cannot better assure our eternal happiness than by living and dying in the service of the poor, in the arms of Providence, and with genuine renouncement of ourselves in order to follow Jesus Christ.”   – St. Vincent de Paul
During one of the adorations, Jesus promised me that: With souls that have recourse to My mercy and with those that glorify and proclaim My great mercy to others, I will deal according to My infinite mercy at the hour of their death.   WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA   (Diary, 379)
"Be careful not to lose sight of the divine presence in any of your actions. Never undertake any work or activity without first having lifted your mind to God and committing that activity to him with holy intentions. Do the same when you offer thanks for the outcome of all your actions. Always examine whether things unfolded in accord with the right intentions you had at the outset, and if you find anything defective, humbly ask the Lord for forgiveness with a firm resolution to amend your failings.   You must not be disheartened or sink into sadness if your actions do not attain the perfection you intended. What do you expect? We are all fragile, we are earth, and not every plot of land produces the first intended by the farmer. Let us always humble ourselves after our failures, recognizing that we are completely helpless without divine assistance."    -St. Pio of Pietrelcina
“Learning without humility has always been pernicious to the Church; and as pride precipitated the rebellious angels from heaven, it frequently causes the loss of learned men.”    St. Vincent de Paul (1581.-1660.)
“I am a Catholic; I will not be a heretic: I am a Christian, and not an Arian: I would rather lose my life, than allow the tyranny of any man to corrupt the purity of my faith.”    – St. Hilary of Poitiers

So it is very important that the master have prudence - I mean that he have good judgement - and experience; if besides these he has learning, so much the better.   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila    The Book of Her Life - chapter 13:16
"I Myself will defend as My own glory, during their lifetime, and especially at the hour of their death, those souls wiho will venerate My  fathomless mercy."   WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA   (Diary 1225)
The ultimate test of your greatness is the way you treat every human being.   - St. John Paul II

“If a priest is determined not to lose his soul, so soon as any disorder arises in the parish, he must trample underfoot all human considerations as well as the fear of the contempt and hatred of his people. He must not allow anything to bar his way in the discharge of duty, even were he certain of being murdered on coming down from the pulpit. A pastor who wants to do his duty must keep his sword in hand at all times. Did not St. Paul himself write to the faithful of Corinth: ‘I most gladly will spend and be spent myself for your souls, although loving you more, I be loved less.’” - St John Vianney.
“Marriage is to help married people sanctify themselves and others.
For this reason they receive a special grace in the sacrament which Jesus Christ instituted.
Those who are called to the married state, will, with the grace of God, find within their state everything they need to be holy.“   -St Josemaria Escrivá
“We have all been called by God to work on a masterpiece.”   – St. Vincent de Paul

'The good works which we do of our own will, are not so meritorious as those that are done under obedience.' St. Philip Neri (1515-1595)
"Jesus, help me to simplify my life by learning what You want me to be and becoming that person."   -St Therese of Lisieux
"If you learn everything except Christ, you learn nothing. If you learn nothing except Christ, you learn everything."   — St. Bonaventure
“In all that you do always be humble, guarding jealously the purity of your heart and the purity of your body; these are the two wings which will raise us to God and make us almost divine.”  St. Pio of Pietrelcina
“Little children follow and obey their father. They love their mother. They know nothing of covetousness, ill-will, bad temper, arrogance and lying. This state of mind opens the road to heaven. To imitate our Lord’s own humility, we must return to the simplicity of God’s little ones.”   St. Hilary of Poitiers
"In giving us his Son, his only and definitive word, God spoke everything to us once in this sole word, and he has no more to say".    St John of the Cross
Not ascending to God unless He raises one up.   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila    The Book of Her Life - chapter 12:5
“The soul cannot live without having recourse to Mary and recommending itself to her. He falls and is lost who does not have recourse to Mary.”   - Saint Alphonsus Maria Liguori
“All beings endowed with intelligence and intellect are either angelic or human. All angelic beings may be subdivided further into two general moral categories or classes, the holy and the accursed - that is, the holy powers and the impure demons. All human beings may also be divided into two moral categories only, the godly and the ungodly.”   St. Maximos the Confessor
"The story of the last 300 years is the story of spiritual declension and the squandering of the substance of Divine Truth. Christ, who is God, has been reduced to a mere man. Man, who is made to the image of God, has been reduced to a mere animal. And an animal, which is a living thing has been reduced to a mere atom. And this is called progress! There is no reason for despair. However much Western Civilization has been disillusioned it still feels itself in a foreign land. There is still some remembrance of the Father's House. Suffice it to say here that some are coming back again to God, not through the preservation of their baptismal grace, but by a trial of the world. They are dissatisfied in this foreign land of husks, They have learned on the staff of the economic and secular and found it pierced their hands." Archbishop Fulton Sheen (The Prodigal World)

"We should daily ask God with our whole hearts for humility, for the grace to know that we are nothing of ourselves, and that our corporal as well as our spiritual welfare proceeds from him alone.  Let us, therefore, practice humility as much as we are able.  There is no virtue more pleasing to God than that of humility, and in possessing it we shall possess all the other virtues." - St John Vianney.
Life with Christ is a wonderful adventure.   - St. John Paul II

If people wish to gain freedom of spirit and not be always troubled, let them begin by not being frightened by the cross, and they will see the Lord also helps them carry it and they will gain satisfaction and profit from everything.   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila  The  Book of Her Life - Ch 11: 17
“Let us take care of His affairs and He will take care of ours.”  – St. Vincent de Paul
“If the servant of God would fain walk with more security through so many snares scattered in every place, he should have our Blessed Lady as his mediatrix with her Son.”   St. Philip Neri (1515-1595)
“We are made for the gladness and cheerfulness of Our Lord, and we shall not be able to fulfill our destiny until we know how to be joyful. Joy in the soul is nothing but the rising of the temperature on the thermometer of Divine Love.”   -Venerable Fulton J. Sheen, Bishop Sheen  [Guide to Contentment; Cheerfulness].

Only God knows the good that can come about by reading one good Catholic book. - St. John Bosco
"Every soul, and especially the soul of every religious, should reflect My mercy. My Heart overflows with compassion and mercy for all. The heart of My beloved must resemble Mine; from her heart must spring the fountain of My mercy for souls; otherwise I will not acknowledge her as Mine."   WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA   (Diary 1148)
“We must always strictly observe these two virtues: kindness with our neighbors and holy humility with God.”   St. Pio of Pietrelcina (Letters III, p. 952)

“It is no small pity, and should cause us no little shame, that, through our own fault, we do not understand ourselves, or know who we are.” (St. Teresa of Avila, Doctor of the Church, Interior Castle, First Mansion, Chapter 1)
“The principal cause of drift in individuals is the absence of a goal or a purpose in life.  He who has no target is not so apt to shoot arrows.  Matches are not carried long that have nothing to ignite.  The uncommitted mind is the drifting mind – it floats down-stream with public opinion.  ‘They say,’ or ‘they are wearing green this year,’ or ‘gosh mom all the kids are wearing them.’  The terrible anonymous authority of ‘they’ carries along the dead minds that are too lazy to think for themselves.  The committed mind, with a purpose and a faith, limits all those possibilities which distract from attaining his goal.  Nothing that drifts can reverse itself except by a force outside itself.  A ball thrown across the room will not be reversed in direction except by a power greater than itself.  In like manner, a Divine Power called ‘grace’ is necessary to stop decay.  No one need remain what he is.  A saint asked God why He did not pardon the devil.  God answered: ‘because he never asked Me.’ Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Walk With God)
“We never give more honor to Jesus than when we honor his Mother, and we honor her simply and solely to honor him all the more perfectly. We go to her only as a way leading to the goal we seek - Jesus, her Son."   - St. Louis Marie de Montfort

The liberating message of the Gospel of Life has been put into your hands...like the great Apostle Paul,  you too must feel the urgency of the task. This is no time to be ashamed of the Gospel. It is the time to preach it from the rooftops.   - St. John Paul II

"We should perform our penance overwhelmed with joy at being able to satisfy God, whom we have offended, and at finding such an easy means of effacing our sins which should have earned eternal sufferings for us."- St. John Vianney.
"Transform me into Yourself, O Jesus, that I may be a living sacrifice and pleasing to You. I desire to atone at each moment for poor sinners. The sacrifice of my spirit is hidden under the veil of the body; the human eye does not perceive it, and for that reason it is pure and pleasing to You. O my Creator and Father of great mercy, I trust in You, for You are Goodness Itself. Souls, do not be afraid of God, but trust in Him, for He is good, and His mercy is everlasting."   WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA.   (Diary, 908)
“Souls are not given as a gift; they are bought. Don’t you know what they cost Jesus? They must be paid for with the same coin.”   St. Pio of Pietrelcina

“He who wishes to find Jesus should seek Him, not in the delights and pleasures of the world, but in mortification of the senses.” St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori (1696-1787)

"Men do not fear a powerful hostile army as the powers of hell fear the name and protection of Mary."--St. Bonaventure
“You cannot oppose an ideology with an opinion, or a philosophy of life with appeasing compromises.  The mere fact that you give your right arm to a bear is no guarantee that he will not take your left.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Characters of the Passion)

The save path for the soul that practices prayer will be not to bother about anything or anyone and to pay attention to itself and to pleasing God.   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila.  The Book of Her Life - chapter 13:10
"So, you will ask me, who then are the people most tempted? They are these, my friends; note them carefully. The people most tempted are those who are ready, with the grace of God, to sacrifice everything for the salvation of their poor souls, who renounce all those things which most people eagerly seek. It is not one devil only who tempts them, but millions seek to entrap them." - St John Vianney.
"Sacrifice yourselves for sinners and say often, especially when you make some sacrifice:
'O my Jesus, this is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.' ".  -Our Lady of Fatima

"A person likes to remain alone in loving awareness of God, without particular considerations, in interior peace and quiet and repose."   -St. John of the Cross

Today the Lord said to me, "I have opened My Heart as a living fountain of mercy. Let all souls draw life from it. Let them approach this sea of mercy with great trust. Sinners will attain justification, and the just will be confirmed in good. Whoever places his trust in My mercy will be filled with My divine peace at the hour of death".    WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA.  (Diary, 1520)
From Mary we learn to trust even when all hope seems gone. From Mary we learn to love Christ her Son and the Son of God.   - St. John Paul II

“We must always strictly observe the two virtues; kindness with our neighbors and holy humility with God.”   St. Pio of Pietrelcina.   (Letters III, P. 952)
“How I wept when I heard those hymns and chants, thrilled by the sweet sound of thy Church. The music sounded in my ears, and thy truth then spoke to my heart; religion burned in me, my tears flowed, and yet I was glad in them.”! St. Augustine (354.-430.)
“The sun which warms the plant can under other conditions also wither it. The rain which nourishes the flower can under other conditions rot it. The same sun shines upon mud that shines upon wax. It hardens the mud but softens the wax. The difference is not in the sun, but in that upon which it shines. The Divine Life which shines upon a soul that loves Him, softens it into everlasting life; that same Divine Life which shines upon the slothful soul, neglectful of God, hardens it into everlasting death.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (The Seven Capital Sins)
“It is no small pity, and should cause us no little shame, that, through our own fault, we do not understand ourselves, or know who we are.” (St. Teresa of Avila, Doctor of the Church, Interior Castle, First Mansion, Chapter 1)

“Be not anxious about what you have, but about what you are.”
― St. Gregory the Great
Always, as long as we live, even for the sake of humility, it is good to know our miserable nature.   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila    The Book of Her Life - chapter 13:1
"Mary seeks for those who approach her devoutly and with reverence, for such she loves, nourishes, and adopts as her children."  -Saint Bonaventure

"Listen to everything that is being sung . . . in his heart. It is Love, the infinite love that envelops us and desires to give us a share . . . in all His blessedness."   -St. Elizabeth of the Trinity
"On the Way of the Cross, you see, my children, only the first step is painful. Our greatest cross is the fear of crosses. . . We have not the courage to carry our cross, and we are very much mistaken; for, whatever we do, the cross holds us tight - we cannot escape from it. What, then, have we to lose? Why not love our crosses, and make use of them to take us to heaven?" - St John Vianney.
He will often come to take delight in this garden and find His joy among these virtues.   St Teresa of Jesus of Avila   The  Book of Her Life - Ch 11: 6

It is simply impossible to lead, without the aid of prayer, a virtuous life. --Saint John Chrysostom
Jesus said to me today, You often call Me your Master. This is pleasing to My Heart; but do not forget, My disciple, that you are a disciple of a crucified Master. Let that one word be enough for you. You know what is contained in the cross.   WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA    (Diary, 1513)
1513 + Jesus said to me today, You often call Me your Master. This is pleasing to My Heart; but do not forget, My disciple, that you are a disciple of a crucified Master. Let that one word be enough for you. You know what is contained in the cross.

"Our Lord loves you and loves you tenderly; and if He does not let you feel the sweetness of His love, it is to make you more humble and abject in your own eyes."   - St. Pio of Pietrelcino
"Recognize in this bread what hung on the cross, and in this chalice what flowed from His side... whatever was in many and varied ways announced beforehand in the sacrifices of the Old Testament pertains to this one sacrifice which is revealed in the New Testament." -from the writings of St. Augustine, Sermon 3, 2; circa A.D. 410

“Never once did Our Lord tell these witnesses of His to write.  He Himself only wrote once in His Life, and that was on the sand.  But He did tell them to preach in His Name and to be witnesses to Him to the ends of the earth, until the consummation of time.  Hence those who take this or that text out of the Bible to prove something are isolating it from the historical atmosphere in which it arose, and from the word of mouth which passed Christ’s truth.”  Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Way to Inner Peace)

"Tell souls not to place within their own hearts obstacles to My mercy, which so greatly wants to act within them. My mercy works in all those hearts which open their doors to it. Both the sinner and the righteous person have need of My mercy. Conversion, as well as perseverance, is a grace of My mercy".   WORDS OF JESUS TO ST. FAUSTINA.  (Diary No.1577)
This eye has the pupil of the most holy Faith, which light of faith enables the soul to discern, to know, and to follow the way and the doctrine of My Truth—the Word Incarnate; and without this pupil of faith she would not see, except as a man who has the form of the eye, but who has covered the pupil (which causes the eye to see) with a cloth. So the pupil of the intellect is faith, and if the soul has covered it with the cloth of infidelity, drawn over it by self-love, she does not see, but only has the form of the eye without the light, because she has hidden it. --St. Catherine Siena Dialogue
“We must believe that Jesus will invariably sustain us by His grace. We must fight like strong men, with strength of soul, and the prize will not be far off.”  St. Pio of Pietrelcina
“Children, I beseech you to correct your hearts and thoughts, so that you may be pleasing to God. Consider that although we may reckon ourselves to be righteous and frequently succeed in deceiving men, we can conceal nothing from God. Let us therefore strive to preserve the holiness of our souls and to guard the purity of our bodies with all fervor. ‘Ye are the temple of God’, says the Divine Apostle Paul; ‘If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy.’” — St. Nicholas of Myra
"The reason Our Lord was baptized was because it was part of the whole process of emptying, of humiliation, of the Incarnation. How could He be poor with us, if He did not in some way conform to our poverty? How could He come among sinful men to redeem them, if He did not also reveal the necessity of being purged from sin? There was no need of Our Blessed Mother to submit to the rite of purification, as there was no need of Our Lord to submit to the rite of Baptism by John. He had no need personally of having sins remitted, but He assumed a nature which was related to sinful humanity. Though He was without sin, He appeared to all men as a sinner, as He did on the cross. That was why He walked into the Jordan with all the rest of the sinners to demand the baptism of penance "in remission of sins. '" Archbishop Fulton Sheen (THESE ARE THE SACRAMENTS)
We judge all things according to the divine truth. – St. Augustine

“Believe that Jesus, Sun of justice, is with you, loves you and always will, although He would like your consent to operate freely in you.”    St. Pio of Pietrelcina
