"There are three great truths that we must especially pray for the Holy Paraclete to reveal to us. First, let us pray that he makes us understand more and more the excellence of our Christian calling. To have been chosen, to have been elected from among so many, and to know that this election, not through any merit of our own, was made by God from eternity 'before the foundation of the world' [Ephesians 1:4] so that we would belong to him in time and eternity! This is such a great mystery, and it is also so sweet that, as soon as we barely penetrate that mystery, we cannot help but completely melt with love.
Second, let us pray that he reveal to us more and more the greatness of the eternal inheritance that our heavenly Father has destined for us. Penetrating this mystery draws us away from earthly goods and makes us eager to arrive at our heavenly home.
Finally, let us pray to the Father of lights that he make us penetrate more and more the mystery of our justification by which we, wretched sinners, are brought to salvation. Our justification is such a great mystery that sacred Scripture compares it to the resurrection of the divine Master."
-St. Pio of Pietrelcina
