Pope St. Pius I: “THIS IS MY BODY... THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, of the New and Eternal Testament, the Mystery of Faith, which shall be shed for you and for many unto the forgiveness of sins.” (While Pope St. Pius I wasn't the first pontiff to say the words of consecration (they all would have) he certainly would have said it at every mass. His holiness decreed that Easter should only be kept on a Sunday. His namesake successors, Pope St. Pius V, and Pope St. Pius X were also sainted pontiffs who had very important things to say about the mass and the holy sacrament of the Eucharist.)
